Belarusian State Medical University

Belarusian State Medical University is the leading higher medical educational institution of the Republic of Belarus having merited international authority and recognition.

The history of the university can be traced back to 1921 when the Medical Faculty was created as a part of the Belarusian State University. The Medical Faculty became an independent educational institution in 1930.

On 28 June, 2001 Minsk State Medical Institute was renamed to the state leading higher educational establishment Belarusian State Medical University.

Grodno State Medical University

Grodno State Medical University  is a university in GrodnoBelarus. It specialises in medicine and medical psychology. It is the oldest medical school in Belarus and is considered, according to some international sources, the best medical university in Belarus.

GrSMU is as a successor of the first medical school in Belarus, the Grodno Medical Academy, established in 1775 by Antoni Tyzenhaus, former mayor of Grodno, for improving almost nonexistent healthcare system in the city. Jean-Emmanuel Gilibert, French botanist, Freemason and medical doctor, became its first rector. Under his rule were trained first doctors (former illiterate peasants), built botanical garden and a chemist's shop. The academy progressed quickly, so soon in 1781 it was reorganized into the Medicine Faculty of Vilna University.

The medical school was renovated only during Soviet-era time in 1958. Firstly, it was a small university, but with one of the best theoretical and practical base in BSSR. Officially got its university status only in 2000.

Gomel State Medical University

Gomel State Medical University is also Know As Homiel State Medical University, former name: Gomel State Medical Institute is public teaching university based in GomelBelarus. In 1990 Gomel State Medical University was founded as per resolution of the Council of Ministers and Order of the Minister of Health of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. It is the youngest of four medical universities in Belarus. The main campus of Gomel State Medical University is located in downtown Gomel, with 18 adjacent clinical sites spread across the city. Faculty includes 276 members with more than one-third holding MD/PhD degree.

Vitebsk State Medical university

Vitebsk State Medical Institute was established as a hospital-medical institute in November 1, 1934 by Resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the BSSR. The total number of students on all courses was 250. MD, Professor Moisei Anisimovich Khazanov, a graduate of the Medical Faculty of the University of Bern (Switzerland) was appointed as the first Rector of the Institute. 12 Professors, well-known in the USSR and abroad medical scientists, started to work with him: Professor Pavel Markovich Gurevich, a graduate of the University of Strasbourg (Alsace - France), became the first dean. In 1938 a hospital-medical institute was renamed into Vitebsk Medical Institute. For the years of working the University has trained more than 14,000 physicians and more than 6,000 pharmacists. Graduates of the University are great organizers and leaders of practical public health, heads of clinic departments, head physicians.
