Perm State Medical University

The history of Perm State Medical University named after E.A. Wagner, as well as the history of higher education in Ural as a whole, goes back to October 1916, when Medical Faculty of Perm University was founded. About 350 future doctors were admitted to the faculty during the first year that made 70% of all students.Reorganization of higher education all over the country in 1930 has led to separation of independent medical institutes (1931) from the universities. The heads of Perm Medical Institute, and since 1994 Perm State Academy of Medicine were: N.F. Bolshakov (1931-1934); division doctor P.P. Sumbayev (1935-1950); Professor A.F. Mamoiko (1951-1952); Professor I.I. Kositsyn (1953-1960); Associate professor T.V. Ivanovskaya (1960-1969); Academician E.A. Wagner (1970-1995); Professor V.A. Cherkasov (1995-2005).PSMU is integrated into the regional medicine. Clinical departments, which provide educational process, are placed in most treatment-and-prophylactic institutions. Besides, professors and staff of departments carry out practical work, introducing new scientific achievements into the public health of Perm Krai.

Mari State University

Mari State University was founded in 1972 in Yoshkar-Ola, Mari El Republic. Mari State University consists of 6 faculties and 6 institutes that train well-educated specialists for most sectors of the Russian national economy. Mari State University is one of the five founder members of the International Association of Finno-Ugric universities, one of the forty-one members of Russia’s Association of Classical Universities. Classes are taken in Russian medium and English medium.

The academic year begins on September 1 (or on the first working day of September). Lectures and classes are held six days a week according to the time-table.

Today Mari State University consists of 6 faculties and 5 institutes that train well-educated specialists for most sectors of the Russian national economy. V. I. Vernadsky Crimea Federal University

V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University is a higher education institution located in Simferopol. It is one of the 10 federal universities of the Russian Federation.The University traces its history back to the establishment of Taurida University, the first institution of higher education in Crimea, which was established in 1918 on the initiative of Solomon Krym.On August 4, 2014, under the Decree of Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University was established. The tenth federal university comprises leading Crimean universities, institutes, and research and science institutions. The University has more than 32,000 students from Russia and 54 countries.

Orenburg State Medical University

Medical Institute n.a. The Orenburg State Medical Academy was established in 1944. Classes began at the Department of General Medicine (4 course years). Official founders of the Institute are considered to be Lazarenko F.M., histologist, professor; Olifson L.E., chemist, associate professor; Silantyev A.K, associate professor, surgeon; the first director of the Institute was Fetisov N.V., surgeon-dentist. Department of Pediatrics was opened in 1970, a scientific-research laboratory was opened for exploration of mechanisms of natural immune system. Doctors Improvement Faculty was opened (now it is called Department of post-graduate training for specialists), student’s hostel № 3 and canteen were built in 1985. The institute continued its development in 1990-s, new departments, such as Department of higher nursing care and Department of preventive care, were opened. The Orenburg State Medical Academy opened 3 new departments in 2002 (Dental, Pharmaceutical, Department of clinical psychology) and became a higher educational institution with 8 departments.

Kazan State Medical University

Based primarily in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia, the Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) is a federal university made up of nine faculties.Kazan State Medical University is a multifunctional and multi-levelled state institution of higher learning in medicine. It meets both personal and social needs in acquiring education in medicine, in developing biomedical and clinical sciences, as well as broadening scientific knowledge of medical sciences. KSMU functions on the basis of self-governance and belongs to the system of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Ministry of Health of Russia. The highest body or KSMU self governance is academic council with university's regulations. On March 6, 1994, the university was issued with a license number 16 G – 235 by the State Committee of Russian Federation of Higher Education which grants the right to perform activities in the field of professional education. Under the auspices of Kazan State Medical University there work a pharmaceutical and two medical colleges in Kazan, one medical college Mary EI Republic, lycee and biomedical classes on the secondary school basis. This complex educational system in the framework of the university provides the continuous higher education of medicine. Kazan State Medical University carries on an aimed preparation of experts in different fields of medicine for 10 republics, Povolzhie and Ural regions. According to the results of a rating of medical schools, KSMU takes the 16 place among 86 other universities. Founded in 1814, KSMU was the second university institution to be founded in Kazan, the third medical university institution in the Russia.

Bashkir State University

Bashkir State University  is located in Ufa, Bashkortostan, Russia, founded in 1909, is a classical university of Russia. 

Bashkir State University is a center for postgraduate studies which provides postgraduate courses in 56 scientific majors and doctoral courses in 8 scientific majors. There are 10 doctoral and 3 candidate dissertation councils which are responsible for defense and awarding academic degrees in 23 majors.

It is home to famous Bashkirians, as well as Russian scientists, researchers, mathematicians, economists, and poets. It is strong in organic chemistry, applied mathematics, philology, information technology, geophysics, and petroleum engineering. Many prominent applied mathematicians and physicists were among the faculty at Bashkir State University, including Academicians Nikolay Bogolyubov, Alexei Leontiev, Valentin Napalkov and Professor of Philology Gabdulkhay Kh. Akhatov.

In Ufa (from 1941 to 1943) Academician Bogolyubov developed his famous method of averaging.
